Transdisciplinary research becomes methodologically rigorous when it follows a repeatable sequence from situation to public object while allowing each stage to remain revisable. Inquiry begins by identifying a concrete phenomenon whose operation cannot be adequately explained from a single disciplinary position: a threshold, planning classification, heat refuge, archival omission, interface default or maintenance failure. It then distinguishes the specific mechanism involved, replacing expansive labels such as inequality, system or participation with a proposition capable of discriminating what actually occurs. The mechanism must subsequently be traced through its transformations across materials, institutions, scales and temporalities: a category may pass from discourse to database to procedure to lived consequence; a thermal condition from surface to microclimate to bodily exposure to behavioural adaptation; a digital rule from interface to action to feedback to ranking. Only after that trace becomes explicit should the mechanism be connected to established scholarly genealogies and comparative practices, preserving the distinction between evidentiary authority and lateral networks of cases. Testing then asks what observations would support the proposed mechanism, what counter-example would weaken it and whether the same structural relation remains identifiable when medium or context changes. Documentation preserves method, provenance, contradiction, version history and interpretative limits so that conceptual transformation remains recoverable rather than being concealed behind polished outcomes. Publication finally converts inquiry into a stable, citable and retrievable public object. The method is therefore neither a disciplinary sequence nor a formula for compulsory interdisciplinarity. It is a discipline of passage: identify the situation, discriminate the operation, trace its transformations, connect its genealogy, expose it to counter-evidence, preserve its record and make the resulting knowledge available for further independent use.
